Primary Responsibilities
As a Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences, your daily activities and key performance areas will include:
- Academic Course Delivery: Make a significant contribution to teaching across core undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum lines, including BSc Biomedical Science, BSc Healthcare Sciences, and MSc Biomedical Sciences.
- Student-Centred Pedagogy: Design, manage, and deliver modern educational materials utilizing student-focused teaching methodologies.
- Employability & Engagement: Drive regional, national, and international professional engagement with relevant internal and external organizations to boost student employability.
- Research & Innovation: Contribute actively to the department’s research profile, meeting qualitative and quantitative benchmarks for upcoming Research Excellence Framework (REF) submissions.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Provide first-line support, academic leadership, and peer mentoring to departmental colleagues.
Candidate Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Education & Qualifications: A good honors degree is required. Must hold a doctoral-level qualification or possess the clear ability to attain one.
- Core Knowledge: Deep, subject-relevant expertise alongside a sound understanding of higher education pedagogy, research, and scholarly activity.
- Teaching & Design Skills: Demonstrated ability to design learning materials, employ diverse student assessment methods, and deliver engaging learning support.
- Communication & Dissemination: Proven capability to communicate complex, conceptual ideas effectively through conference presentations, research reports, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Professionalism: Enthusiastic, friendly professional with excellent interpersonal skills, a commitment to an outstanding student experience, and an established or promising research profile.
- Professional Recognition: Ability to achieve Fellow Status with the Higher Education Academy (HEA) within three years of employment.
